Infrared saunas are used for countless reasons; from being a place to have quiet moment for contemplation to preparing for a sporting event but we have found that one of the main reasons is the alleviation of pain for those who have arthritis – both osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. In a bid to help our clients and reach out to them we knew that only a leading, respected charity would be the right fit for our brand and this led us to Arthritis Care.

10 million people live with arthritis in the UK, and they need as much support as we can offer. Accounting for one in five GP visits, it is the most common cause of chronic pain and we believe this doesn’t need to be the case. Young people – providing young people with their own helpline and online forums to help them manage their arthritis.
Helplines – In 2012 the Arthritis Care helpline answered 8,810 requests for help Information and they send out over 12,000 free information packs by request each year.
Self-management – In the 1990s Arthritis Care ran the first self-management courses for people living with arthritis, since then they have helped over 30,000 people to better manage the condition.
Policy & Campaigning – Arthritis Care aim to influence those who can make a positive difference to the lives of arthritis sufferers, including government and the National Health Service.
As part of our affiliation with Arthritis Care, we are offering a discount on any Health-Mate UK saunas purchased by their members. The timing is ideal as winter is usually the toughest time of year to suffer from arthritis as the cold sets in and joint mobility is ever more restricted.
We will also be looking at ways to help people self-manage their pain as this gives them more control over their lives, in turn enhancing their mental wellbeing as well as physical. Understanding how helpful a sauna can be as part of this self-management, we are excited about the next phases of our affiliation, all of which will be revealed in the coming months.
